PLANNING YOUR SESSION

One of the things clients seem to stress about the most is the planning that is involved with their session. I’m here to tell you that there is no need to worry! I love meeting new people and forming connections with them, and getting to know their personalities so I can translate them into their images. When you book with me, I start off by scheduling a pre-session consultation so I can get to know you and your family. During your consultation, we’ll cover all the basics - location, wardrobe suggestions and ideas, how your session will unfold, answer any questions or concerns you have, and it will generally be a time for us to get familiar with each other before we meet in person.

THE BIG DAY

Your session day has finally arrived and hopefully after we’ve chatted, you’re as excited as I am! When it comes to families + kids, I include a mix of both posed and candid images because it can completely tell your story. Posed shots are nice to have, and the candids are often where the magic happens, as they tend to show the most connection that families have with each other. Since kids (especially the tiny variety) have shorter attention spans, I start off by taking posed shots first, and then we’ll move on to getting candids. Often times, I’ll sit back and give families prompts or some minimal direction, and work on capturing moments and emotions as they unfold. Details are really fun when it comes to kids, and I often try to capture little hands and feet, or a child giving kisses or hugs to mom or dad. Those moments are so special, are often forgotten, and deserve to be frozen in time.

GALLERY VIEWING + ORDERING

Now that we’ve wrapped up your session, here is where I work on creating your image gallery. Out of all the parts I love about photographing a session, the editing piece is probably one of my favorites because it really brings your images to life. After your images are finished (usually between 2-4 weeks after your session), I upload them into an online, password-protected gallery, where you’ll be able to view the images I took that day. Most full sessions yield approximately 20-25 edited images. From there, you’ll be able to select your favorites and then we can talk about which collection or products you’d like to purchase that will best suit your needs. Once your collection comes in, I’ll work with you to arrange a time to deliver all of your products so you can enjoy them for years to come.
